Navy Vs Army ranking system
What did I search today?

If you are fan of war movies or TV series as much as I am, then you might have notice there is something different about officers ranking in navy comparing to regular army. The problem shows of worst when we talk about Sci-Fi movies with starships and battlestars and so on because although they are flying, still considered as ship not plane and the ranking system follows the Navy.

To keep it short I should mention my problem started with not being able to place commander of ship in regular army ranking, also where a Capitan of a ship stands compare to regular Captain.

If you want the full list of differences then hit the link to see the chart:

For those who want the simple answer, here’s the simple conclusion as the answer to my questions:

Lieutenant in Navy = Capitan in Army
Lieutenant Commander in Navy = Major in Army
Commander in Navy = Lieutenant Colonel in Army
Captain in Navy = Colonel in Army
